Condors are well known in Oxford for being friendly and inclusive. We welcome everyone regardless of: gender, sex, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, age, disability, body size/shape, background – the list goes on. This is really important to us so we have included it in our club aims. We have a Diversity & Inclusion officer and have created a D&I committee to work on this agenda. Reach out to our current 2025-2026 Diversity Officer, Becky Reid, and our diversity committee at [email protected]

- Everyone in our club is equal.
- Every member should feel they are able to belong.
- Every member should feel they are able to be their true authentic self.
- Our club belongs to all of us!
Our Club diversity aims are:
- For our membership to reflect our local community
- Enable equal access to opportunities
- Be a supportive ally to underrepresented groups
- Demonstrate effective leadership within Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
To achieve this we will do the following:
- Forge partnerships with local organisations representing diverse communities
- Record data on demographics of our membership and track progress
- Make adjustments to events to ensure a safe space for everyone
- Challenge behaviour that is disrespectful or excluding
- Plan, deliver and participate in community events celebrating diversity
We are an outward-looking club who are keen to engage with underrepresented groups, for example: younger and older age groups, the BIPOC community, people from the Global South, the trans community and people of different religions amongst others. The concrete steps we have taken in order to achieve this are:
- Attended events, e.g. Oxford Brooks freshers’ fair, looking to engage riders under 25, both home and international students
- Built a free equipment bank, which is available for members and is a way of reducing start-up costs for newer cyclists
- Contacted more diverse cycling clubs and organisations to partner with and learn from
- Showcased cyclists of various ages, races, and backgrounds in order to increase representation at events
Not only do we welcome diversity in riders, we love diversity in riding. So if you’d like to try something new, we’d love to have you along. We offer: weekend social café rides, ultra-endurance events, racing, competition training, time trials, hill climbs, cyclo-cross, off-roading, bike packing, indoor cycling teams and cycling trips – there is something for everyone!

Join one of our rides or pop along to one of our social events! The vast majority of our events are open to all Condors, all women, trans and non-binary members, men, as well as many to non-members eg +1s, ‘Nondors’ and the ‘Condor-curious’. Perhaps you would like to come along and meet us at one of our socials first, before coming on a ride with us or joining up? No worries. We are very easy-going and try to live up to our tagline of being, ‘Oxford’s friendliest cycling club‘. Don’t just take our word for it, ask Cycling Weekly:

Our current 2025-2026 Diversity Officer, Becky Reid, along with our current diversity committee: Negin, Christine, Eddie, Tom and Jay, champion widening participation at the Condors and making sure our club feels inclusive and accessible for everyone. We meet every month and discuss any potential issues/barriers our members and other cyclists may face and how we could potentially address them. We also hatch plans to host exciting new Condors events to celebrate diversity in cycling space in all its forms.
Our diversity committee look to develop partnerships with other underrepresented cycling and community groups. Our club should reflect our community. We also look to support other local Oxford charities, organsiations and community cycling groups. If you would like to get involved with our Condors Diversity Committee, you would be very welcome!
By the same token, if you feel you have been treated differently, would like to raise an issue or a suggestion to how we could be doing something better, please do get in touch. We are here to listen. If you have diversity-related contacts or there are any underrepresented groups close to your heart to whom you would like us to reach out, please email us, we will be delighted to contact them!
It is important to us that ALL riders feel supported, seen and are able to be their true authentic selves at the Condors. You have the right to take up space within the cycling world – just as you are. We champion community cycling, cycling campaign groups and basically anything that will encourage more people to get out on their bikes and experience the joy of cycling!

To celebrate diversity, in 2025, we have hosted speaker events to showcase riders of different ages, genders, races and who do different types of cycling – be it endurance riding, off-roading, even tandem riding! We organised a hugely popular ‘film night’ where we showed a local film-maker’s cycling documentaries, heard from an international endurance champion, a female coach with a sports science degree specialising in cycling and even from two Condors who hold a Guinness World Record in cycling! We are aiming to organise more exciting things in the coming year so please come along to support our event and meet like-minded Condors and other cyclists.

We are particularly proud of our strong female membership (over 100 riders and 34% of the club). In the Club, we have numerous female ride leaders, highly successful competitive female cyclists and half our Board are women including our very own, Women’s Officer. We work super hard on encouraging more women to join the Condors and champion all women in all cycling! For more, contact: [email protected]
We are very proud of designing and hosting Outspoken in Oxford in 2022 – a weekend conference of women-led brilliant films, talks, panel Q&As and rides. See the photo below and check out our videos on YouTube!
